Penguins of Madagascar Birthday Fun
Note: Don’t miss my Blog entry on making a Penguins of Madagascar Birthday Cake and another on Penguins of Madagascar Birthday Decorations too.
Finding birthday activities for the kids to do that were themed around the Penguins of Madagascar was no easy feat (or FEET!!!! as Mort would say). It took some creativity and determination, and I was able to come up with and create some fun events for the kids to do.
At the time…there was essentially NOTHING out there related to the Penguins of Madagascar. I’m not sure if there is now, but boy, at the time there was really nothing.
The first thing I made was a Penguins of Madagascar word hunt. I used Star Office Calc (like an Excel program, just free) to make a grid of letters, outlined it, and dropped in an image.
I got all the kids at a table and gave them pencils, then basically said “Go!” I had prizes for the 1st 5 to complete the word hunt. This was a good activity for the older kids in the group — so they wouldn’t be so bored with the younger kid’s games. I went to the Dollar Tree and bought up miscellaneous $1 prizes to give out for each event. I didn’t wrap the prizes, I would just let the winner stick their head into a big “sack” of prizes and pick one. They seemed to like that, and it kept the girl prizes w/the gals, and the older/younger kids prizes w/the right child of the right age.
Next, I found some coloring pages online (boy, these were HARD to find!). One was straight coloring, and the younger kids were more interested in this. The prize was for the “best” colored page. I paid close attention to who had won before and made sure not to give a prize to a previous winner if I could help it — so that everyone would get a prize in the end.
The last “coloring” type page was a dot-to-dot. With this, I pretty much made sure all the kids got a prize.
We also had a Pinata outside for the kids to whale away on. Our good friend Rocio hand made it herself. She also could not find ANY Penguins of Madagascar stuff, so as you can see, the Pinata had the logo from the Pixar Studios movie Cars.
Hey…nobody’s perfect! My son still loved it.
He wore the broken off Pinata “spike” as a hat for quite awhile after the candy flew.
I uploaded the word find game and coloring pages here if you want to download them yourself for your party! Click on the links below to download each page.
